Feats & Special Abilities
Feat / Ability Description/Notes
Improved Initiative Azael has +4 bonus on initiative checks.
Trapfinding (SA) Azael can use the Search skill to locate traps when the task has a Difficulty Class higher than 20. Finding a nonmagical trap has a DC of at least 20, or higher if it is well hidden. Finding a magic trap has a DC of 25 + the level of the spell used to create it. Azael can also use the Disable Device skill to disarm magic traps. A magic trap generally has a DC of 25 + the level of the spell used to create it. A rogue who beats a trap’s DC by 10 or more with a Disable Device check can study a trap, figure out how it works, and bypass it (with his party) without disarming it.
Sneak attack (SA) +1d6 when surprise attack or flanking.
Half-Elf Traits Azael has an immunity to sleep spells and similar magical effects, and a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells or effects. Azael possesses low-light vision. Azael has a +1 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. A half-elf does not have the elf's ability to notice secret doors simply by passing near them. Azael has a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks: Half-elves get along naturally with all people. This bonus may not apply in situations or settings where half-elves are viewed with distrust. Azael has Elven Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-elf is considered an elf. Half-elves, for example, are just as vulnerable to special effects that affect elves as their elf ancestors are, and they can use magic items that are only usable by elves.
Evasion (Ex) Azael can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If he makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, he instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Description
Azael Moonwhisper is a gaunt-faced and beardless creature, drabbed in dreary grays and common browns that match his dirty russet-hued hair. Piercing eyes, a catlike light green, protrude from the dark bags that surround them--rings that serve to make his almost colorlessly pale skin appear even sicklier. Despite his haggard countenance, however, his crooked half-smile reveals a mouthful of disarmingly glistening pearls that give way to a melodious, soothing voice. Azael's lithe frame belies his dexterity; he hides his many dilapidated tools and knives under the folds of his worn cloak.

Personality
Azael Moonwhisper is an inconsequential thief, a self-made creature of good breeding and fine manners but terrible judgment. Possessing a love for the theatrical and gaudy; he is ill-suited in spirit (though competent in body) for his position as a skulking rogue. An exceedingly adroit lockpick and quick wit, the half-elf currently lives a life of meager finances but grand ambition. Azael fashions himself as a mighty mercenary and silver-tongued diplomat, charming friend and foe alike with his mellow purr. He would enjoy a status as a swash-buckling socialite, and prays that he might gain the resources and ability to leave his mark upon the world so that his name might be remembered. A pathological liar, he may be slightly deluded about his aspirations--but Azael, ever the amiable megalomaniac, would never admit it.

Background
Azael's childhood was almost obnoxiously average--he grew up in a middle-class family (a happily married pair of parents and a magically talented younger brother) with a solid education in a variety of rural practices and was raised to be an envoy to the neighboring kingdom. Azael was sheltered by a caring mother as a favored child for a quarter of a century before, in a small fit of rebellion, he decided to leave his town for the city (leaving his parents to an unknown fate--in actuality, they still care deeply for him and have taken to writing to various institutions in the city for hope of news).
He quickly discovered that his funds and education were insufficient to pay for his tenure in the urban center, but, in debt and unwilling to return to his family (for pride's sake), he remained in search of himself. A thieves' guild recruited him as a petty spy and grunt, and he enjoys their protection (though he believes them to place on him more import than they actually care to do). A thief by necessity, Azael (who still remains in debt) has grown to enjoy his role as a law-breaker and the fear and awe he thinks the populace regards him with for it.
Azael inherited his mother's wit, if not his father's common sense--he grew up knowing Common and Elven, studied Gnomish as a foreign language, and quickly picked up smatterings of Goblin and Orcish at his guild.
